Aretha Franklin, the undisputed »Queen of Soul«, won 18 Grammy Awards throughout her career and was the first woman to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. When she died on 16 August 2018, she left behind an incredible musical legacy ranging from gospel to R&B, soul, jazz and pop. American singer, songwriter and pianist Sheléa and the Metropole Orkest, conducted by Jules Buckley, wil pay tribute to this icon at the Musikfest finale - once again with free entry, live and open air on the market square! Sheléa began her career as a songwriter and singer for producer duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and has since worked with greats like Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, David Foster and Rickey Minor. She feels a special connection to Aretha Franklin because of her background: »Our fathers are both pastors and we both sang and played in church.« The best qualifications for rousing call-and-response songs between Sheléa and the gospel choir Vula's Chorale with classics like »Think«, »Respect« or »A Natural Woman«, right?

If you or your companion are dependent on a wheelchair and have a severely disabled pass with the symbol »B«, you can purchase tickets from a limited contingent for a specially marked space on the market square for wheelchair users and their companions. The same applies to people with walking disabilities who have a severely disabled pass with the symbols »G« and »aG« and can order free tickets from a likewise limited contingent. These tickets can only be booked in advance at the Ticket Service in the Glocke (Tel. 0421/33 66 99, Mon - Fri 12 pm - 6pm, Sat 11am - 1pm) and in the Musikfest webshop. The pass with the corresponding symbol must be shown at the entrance on the day of the event.
