Programme:
Béla Bartók: Romanian Folk Dances Sz 68
Joseph Haydn: Trumpet Concerto in E flat major Hob VIIe:1

The Budapest Festival Orchestra (BFO), co-founded by Iván Fischer in 1983, is one of the world’s top orchestras. Not only the critics agree, the Hungarian orchestra was also given the Gramophone Award for Orchestra of the Year 2022, with votes submitted from all over the world! The BFO can prove its excellence with three programmes. The first, Béla Bartók's »Romanian Folk Dances«, is a greeting from the composer’s homeland: the result of many journeys with his phonograph to remote villages in Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria at the beginning of the 20th century. The centrepiece is Haydn's virtuoso trumpet concerto, which is in the best possible hands with Selina Ott. In 2018, while still a student at the age of just 20, the Austrian musician became the first woman to win the prestigious ARD competition for trumpet!

HOW IT WORKS

In ten venues around the market square, two concerts of 45 minutes each will take place in three time slots, while in our main festival hall the Glocke there will be three concerts. All venues have two common intervals for spontaneous encounters and thought provoking conversations with other festivalgoers. Single tickets for each concert can be booked at the standard price of 30 euros. So you can decide for yourself whether you want to attend one, two or three concerts for the festival’s opening night!

Tickets: € 30 (reduced € 24)
