Joseph Haydn: »Die Jahreszeiten« Hob. XXI:3

After »The Creation« in 2018, this year's Musikfest guest performance in Verden will feature the second great German-language oratorio by Joseph Haydn: »The Seasons«. The composer completed this work about the annual cycle of nature and life on earth in 1801. Once again, Haydn proves himself to be a master of using sofisticated and original instrumentation effectively, blossoming with colours from the lively scenes to the reflective passages. Il Giardino Armonico has been one of the world's best period instrument ensembles for years and is famous for its grippingly expressive interpretations and sensitive performances. As Giovanni Antonini has also been artistic director of the »Haydn2032« project since 2014, aiming to record all 107 symphonies by the year 2032, the continuous engagement with the composer has long been part of Il Giardino Armonico's DNA. Add to this a world-class vocal trio and the performance of this masterpiece promises to be as varied and contrasting as the changing seasons themselves!
