Cast change:
The Insula Orchestra has informed us that there has been a change in the cast: Instead of Christina Landshamer, Fabio Trümpy and Thomas Tatzl now Chiara Skerath, Martin Mitterrutzner and Rafael Fingerlos take over the solo parts.

Joseph Haydn: »The Creation«, Oratorio for Soli, Choir and Orchestra Hob. XXI:2

The French conductor Laurence Equilbey, student of conducting giants such as Claudio Abbado and Nikolaus Harnoncourt, founded the chamber choir Accentus in 1991; the ensemble quickly gained cult status thanks to its flawless intonation and perfect balance among its voices. About 20 years later, she brought together talented graduates of Europe’s leading educational institutions to form the Insula Orchestra, a period instrument group named for an area of the brain that is responsible for empathic feelings. Along with her musicians, Laurence Equilbey quickly achieved such success that they were named resident artists in the new Paris music centre La Seine Musicale that was opened last spring. Equilbey has chosen »The Creation« as the programme for her Music Festival début. Haydn broke away from the traditional dominance of the aria in this work and made the choir substantially more important — and composed an epic oratorio about the creation of the world that is rightly known as the most significant contribution to the genre since the death of Handel and one that remains to the present one of the most popular of all oratorios.
