Fazıl Say: Percussion Concerto op. 77 (version for two pianos and percussion ensemble)
Tan Dun: »Tears of Nature« (arr. Martin Grubinger sen.)
Igor Stravinsky: »Le sacre du printemps«

Martin Grubinger is the multi-percussionist par excellence, who has done more than anyone else to bring percussion to classical concert stages – solo works to chamber music to solo concertos dedicated to him were premiered by him. But this year in May he will turn 40 - and after that he plans to retire from the stage! He is no longer needed as a »beacon«, he says. He wants to devote himself to new projects and also points out that he has held a professorship at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg since 2018. A stroke of luck for the Musikfest Bremen then that Martin Grubinger will probably give his last concerts in Germany with us! Together with his wife and sister-in-law, the piano duo Ferzan and Ferhan Önder, and the two percussionists Alexander Georgiev and Jürgen Leitner, he will bid farewell to the North German audience with »Tears of Nature« by the Chinese-American composer Tan Dun, the percussion concerto by Fazıl Say co-commissioned by the Musikfest (Bremen premiere 2019) and Igor Stravinsky's legendary »Sacre du printemps«. A programme as multicultural and diverse as Grubinger's instruments!
