Programme:
Giuseppe Verdi: »Il trovatore« (concertante)
After »La traviata« and »Rigoletto« in previous years, »Il trovatore« now follows as the third opera in Giuseppe Verdi's legendary »trilogia popolare«, the three operas with which he established himself as the leading Italian opera composer of the second half of the 19th century. Admittedly, the plot, set in 15th century Spain, is bizarre! It is about a brotherly quarrel, marked by atrocities, a desire for revenge, madness, jealousy, love, despair and hatred. But through his music, Verdi transforms it into a gripping tragedy full of expressive melodies, emotionally charged arias and dramatic choruses. Under the baton of Jérémie Rhorer, Le Cercle de l'Harmonie present their conductor’s historically informed approach: instruments from the time of composition and the composer's own preferred chamber pitch of 432 Hertz. Once again, the 2017 Musikfest Prize laureate guarantees to tease out every bit of tension, brilliance and complexity from Verdi. The world-class ensemble, led by Ivan Magrì, Olga Peretyatko, Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar and Agnieszka Rehlis, will glory in every note of the expressive music and make the evening a vocal feast!
