Philippe Jaroussky, winner of this year's Musikfest prize, has indisputably been one of the best contemporary countertenors for around 20 years. His voice effortlessly climbs to high registers and masters intricate coloraturas with rich nuance and graceful lightness. Having become famous singing vocal music of the Baroque, the French singer has been expanding his repertoire with energetic curiosity. In the young guitarist Thibaut Garcia he has now found an ideal partner, with whom he will explore the songs of different cultures on a journey around the world through more than 400 years of music history - from England to Italy, Austria and France to Spain and Latin America. Whether it's a baroque aria, romantic song, chanson, song or bossa nova, the beguiling timbre of Jaroussky's countertenor combines perfectly with the sensitive, poignant sound of Garcia's guitar. Covering extreme existential experiences awakened by love, the selected songs promise bittersweet melancholy with a shimmering, fragile intensity that goes straight to the heart!
