Works by Johann Friedrich Fasch, Antonio Vivaldi and others

»Katharinas Hofmusik IV« – the fourth stage of a journey of discovery tracing the connections between Catherine II’s origins and her later work at the Petersburg court. When the Russian Tsarina formally became sovereign over Jever from the distant St. Petersburg, the princes of Anhalt, from whose line she descended, had been ruling there for more than 100 years. 300 years ago, Johann Friedrich Fasch was appointed Hofkapellmeister in her native Zerbst. While he remained there until his death in 1758, countless Italian composers were travelling through Europe – and were recruited by Catherine II.  After last year’s success, Alfredo Bernardini returns with his team of tutors to lead the Atelier »Katharinas Hofmusik IV« with young musicians from all over the world. For 5 days, they delve into the scores of Fasch and the composers who embodied the international musical culture at European courts that inspired Catherine to make her capital into a cultural centre of European importance!
