Works and arrangements by Faraj Suleiman

Estimated concert duration 70 minutes

The Palestinian pianist and composer Faraj Suleman loves to experiment, while building bridges between East and West. Born in a village in upper Galilee in 1984, he began playing the piano at the tender age of three, giving his first concert when he was five. He studied classical piano and Arabic Music, which he combines with western influences in his compositions. Currently based in Paris, where »Le Figar«” branded him »one of the most talented composers of the moment« right after his first concert, the keyboard virtuoso has enchanted audiences at the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Reeperbahn Festival and the WOMEX Music Expo. In his ground breaking original compositions and unique improvisations, he smoothly blends Arabic scales and rhythms with elements of Jazz, blues, rock, tango and classical music. Suleiman links the past and the future with his captivating soundscapes, while never losing sight of his own background: »It’s very important that I remember at all times that I am a Palestinian and I’m trying to write ‘modern’ Palestinian music«.
