The German-Swedish jazz band Nordsnø Ensemble combine Scandinavian folklore with elements of modern jazz, progressive rock and electronic music. Like an homage to the natural beauty and freedom as well as to the dark and fantastical mysticism of Scandinavia, the Nordsnø Ensemble contemplate the poetry of life with the music on its current album »Om svalor och smältvatten« (of swallows and meltwater). The mystical moods of Scandinavian folk songs encounter the music of the spheres, with penetrating rhythms and the lyrical, gentle, elfin vocals of Lotta Leitz. They focus on traditional songs and their lyrics and reinterpret them through arrangements full of colours as well as melodious improvisations. Leave everyday life behind and drift away on a wave of sound into Scandinavia's unspoilt vast fjords, forests and mountains - sometimes melancholy and ethereal, sometimes vibrant and full of drive, but always as magical as the white nights of the summer solstice!
