She is one of the most unusual violinists of our time, who has conquered concert halls like a force of nature with her gripping, intensive playing: Patricia Kopatchinskaja. The fabulous virtuoso is convinced that »We have to do things that are outrageous and unexpected«. And so, as a young student, the discovery of Il Giardino Armonico jolted her, with their daring way of playing and articulation reminding her of the folk music of her parents in Moldova. When such groundbreaking mavericks and masters of their art dare to conceive a project together, something truly extraordinary is bound to emerge. With "What's next Vivaldi?" they build a bridge from Vivaldi's music to the present: they alternate violin concertos by the baroque master with five works by contemporary Italian composers, most of which were specially commissioned, which render Vivaldi's work into the present. A fascinating experiment full of compelling contrasts, which, with their tongue-in-cheek allusions, place Vivaldi in a new context – a delirious display of musical fireworks!
