Born in Toulouse in 1994, Thibaut Garcia is regarded as one of the most talented guitarists of his generation. Since 2008, he has won first prize in no less than seven international competitions - including the Guitar Foundation of America in 2015. Since then, the Spanish-French musician has championed the merits of his instrument and enjoys demonstrating the enormous breadth of the guitar repertoire. This also goes for this recital, with works ranging from Viennese classical to romantic and South American music. The guitar virtuoso Mauro Giuliani was one of the ultimate stars of Viennese musical life after 1800, where he made the acquaintance of Beethoven and is also said to have played in a trio with Rossini and Paganini. Agustín Barrios Mangoré, a native of Paraguay, was one of the great guitar virtuosos of the first half of the 20th century, delightfully combining European influences with South American folklore. With his colourful, imaginative playing full of rapid runs, Thibaut Garcia presents a fascinating display of the magic of the guitar at the Jagdschloss Clemenswerth!
