French soprano Mélissa Petit studied singing in her home town of Saint-Raphaël and in Nice before starting her career as a member of the International Opera Studio at the Hamburg State Opera in 2010. After three years at the Opera Studio and two years of freelance work, she sang in the Zurich Opera House ensemble from 2015 to 2017. Since then, she has excelled in roles such as Micaëla in Bizet’s »Carmen«, Gilda in Verdi’s »Rigoletto«, Juliette in Gounod’s »Roméo et Juliette«, Giannetta in Donizetti’s »L’elisir d’amore« und Papagena in Mozart’s »Die Zauberflöte«. In 2019, she appeared as Ariciue in Rameau’s »Hippolyte et Aricie« in a co-production of the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the Zurich Opera House. After success in competitions and highly acclaimed performances, invitations to other leading European concert halls and opera houses followed. In 2021, Mélissa Petit made her debut at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival as Bellezza in Handel's »Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno« and as Servilia in Mozart's »La clemenza di Tito«. Other highlights of recent seasons include the title role in Janáček's »The Cunning Little Vixen« at the Theater an der Wien and Anna in a fully-staged production of Boieldieu's »La Dame blanche« in Limoges.
