Sunday , 18.08.24 - 8:00 pm

Programme:
Joseph Haydn: String Quartet in G minor op. 20/3 Hob. III: 33
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: String Quartet No. 21 in D major K. 575 (1st Prussian Quartet)
Franz Schubert: String Quartet No. 15 in G major D 887

The French Quatuor Ebène have been at the top of the world’s leading string quartets for years now. With their fresh approach, intense and unconstrained, they always get to the heart of the music. Add to this the almost telepathic understanding with which these four musicians achieve miracles. In their programme, they bring together three exponents of the First Viennese School: Haydn, Mozart and Schubert, who already opened the door to the Romantic era with their string quartet innovations. In his String Quartet in G minor, Haydn shows his diabolical love of experimentation with musical disorder, far removed from the strict conventions of his time. Mozart, on the other hand, freed the cello from its function as the carrier of the bass line in his String Quartet K 575. And Schubert? He broke with tradition completely with his last string quartet! The sum total of all his experiments with sound and form, it is so progressive that it keeps surprising with its twists and turns. Get ready for the exciting interpretations the highly creative and bold musicians of Quatuor Ebène will come up with!
