Programme:
Giacomo Puccini: Preludio sinfonico as well as arias, overtures and intermezzos from »Tosca«, »Manon Lescaut«, »La Rondine«, »La fanciulla del West«, »Le villi« and »Il tabarro«

Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924) is the most famous Italian opera composer, together with Giuseppe Verdi (1858-1924). Whether it’s »Tosca«, »La bohème«, »Madame Butterfly« or »Turandot«, they are simply synonymous with Italian Opera! Why? Because the yearning, indulgent, passionate sounds of their fateful stories continue to move us each time! In honour of Puccini, the 100th anniversary of whose death is on 29 November, the Musikfest stages a gala – with Jonathan Tetelman! The Chilean-American tenor, who already excelled on stage in roles such as Rodolfo, Vavaradossi and Pinkerton, has proven himself to be one of the great verismo-tenors with his new album »The Great Puccini«. His expressive voice oozing with dark timbres can confidently form a delicately nuanced piano and in the next moment move effortlessly to the high notes and let them flow smoothly. Chief conductor Marko Letonja and the Bremer Philharmoniker will be passionately at his side and conjure up the powerful forces of love, longing and drama – guaranteed to send shivers down your spine!
