Thursday , 29.08.24 - 7:30 pm

Programme
A mix of newly interpreted jazz standards, chansons and tango

Since being honoured in the »Discovery of the Year« category at the Victoires de la musique classique 2016, trumpeter Lucienne Renaudin Vary has performed as a soloist with countless renowned orchestras. Born in the West of France, she attended both classical and jazz classes at the renowned Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris and made a name for herself in both genres right from the start. To this day, she feels an equally strong attachment to both and says: »Sometimes I wake up and I want to play jazz and the next day I want to play classical music«. To her they are the two musical languages she grew up with and allow her to express everything: »I love improvising and being free in jazz. That in turn helps me with classical music«. That becomes clear straight away when hearing the fresh and lively sound of Lucienne Renaudin Vary’s trumpet playing and her joy in sophisticated improvisation. With a repertoire that combines Astor Piazzolla, Toots Thielemans, Roy Hargrove and some of the greats of hard bop such as Booker Little, she will be giving her first German concert with her jazz ensemble/quartet at the Musikfest – show time!
