The Bach Collegium Japan enjoys and almost legendary reputation when it comes to their interpretations of the works of its namesake composer! In 2018, the ensemble, under the baton of Masaaki Suzuki, finalised its complete recordings of all Bach Cantatas, which experts have long since put on a par with those of Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Philippe Herreweghe. No wonder: Suzuki’s interpretations of Bach are characterised by an impasto, rich sound, with a freshness, verve and vigour that bring out their perfect balance of meditative spiritual power and vibrant dynamism, making them a moving experience.

HOW IT WORKS
Around the market square, nine venues will each host two 45-minute concerts in three time slots. All venues will have two shared intervals for spontaneous encounters and stimulating exchanges. Individual tickets can be booked for all events at a standard price of 30 euros, so you can choose for yourself whether you would like to attend one, two or three concerts to start off the festival!
